Inge Bauer Inge’s personal approach to felt making was founded on the basis of a very traditional background which she was able to experience very intensively whilst on educational trips to Mongolia (1995), Turkey (1996), Hungary (several times since 1994), Finland (1999) and Norway (several times since 1998). “I had the opportunity to meet felt-makers from all over the world and many of these encounters had a lasting impact on my development. At present my work has two areas of focus; the creation of wall hangings using fine and coarse wool types, and the production of very fine, extremely lightweight felt, combined with silk and dyed one or more times during production through a process similar to the Shibori-technique. This fine material is often used for clothing, either felted seamlessly to fit or produced as a material which is later cut and sewn together.” Inge is a graduate of the College for Social Work (Fachhochschule für Sozialwesen) in Esslingen and the Nürtingen Independent Art School (Freie Kunsthochschule) in Germany.
